From Plumber to Water Safety Leader
Southern Plumbing Supervisor (soon to be Account Manager) - 3 Years with TEC
Antony Leppert's transition to TEC demonstrates how the right opportunity can unlock career progression. With 11 years in the water hygiene industry and 18 years as a qualified plumber, he was perfectly positioned when a conversation led to an opportunity at TEC. Three years later, Antony has progressed from Southern Plumbing Supervisor to his upcoming role as Account Manager, bringing two decades of technical expertise to TEC's expanding operations.
Antony's TEC Journey
“I'm a qualified plumber and have been plumbing for 18 years now. I worked in the same industry for a different company before joining TEC, but it was more local-based rather than national - just in and around my local area.”
With such extensive industry experience, Antony was an ideal candidate when the opportunity at TEC arose. “Through mutual friends, I heard about an opportunity to move to a national company - the timing worked perfectly."
The Plumbing Foundation
Antony's career began with a traditional apprenticeship route. "I left school and did my plumbing apprenticeship, then left plumbing for a little while to work in retail. But I came back to it 10 years ago when I entered the water hygiene industry."
Career Evolution at TEC
Antony's extensive background provided the perfect foundation for understanding TEC's technical requirements.
- 2021-2024: Southern Plumbing Supervisor - Managing all southern region plumbers, scheduling their work and ensuring they had the parts and resources needed for success
- September 2024: Account Manager - Upcoming promotion to client-facing role managing contracts, creating jobs and providing quotations
Current Responsibilities:
"I'm in charge of all the plumbers, scheduling all their work and making sure they've got all their parts that they need. For the first two and a half years, I looked after eight or nine plumbers, but recently we've taken on another plumbing supervisor who looks after everything from London South.”
What changes have you witnessed in the water safety industry?
"It's changed massively, even in the 10 years that I've been in the industry. When I started, it was pen and paper - writing temperature sheets out. The technological transformation has been significant."
The Upcoming Transition
Antony's promotion to Account Manager represents a significant career shift. I'll be based in the office rather than spreading my days out on site. It will be a change but it’s something I'm looking forward to doing." The transition involves managing his own contracts and clients, creating jobs, and providing quotations - a natural progression that builds on his operational expertise.
The TEC Culture
"It's a great company to work for with the opportunity for progression.”
"James Lee, Operations Manager, has really given me the chance to progress. Who would have thought that a conversation at a wedding, would lead me here.”
Antony represents TEC's approach to career development - taking experienced professionals and providing them with opportunities to grow into new areas of responsibility while maintaining the operational excellence the company is known for.
